I whipped this off my other Blog as I want to do stuff for Swagbucks, and thought it would put them off.

It was entitled Why are so many Youtube Videos full of crap music?

Not the professional stuff, like the possibly illegal uploads of all our favourite songs.

No, I am talking about informational videos, or personal ones, that every fucking dickhead and his dog seems to add (hopefully copyright free) SHITE MUSIC.

It is distracting, and most is actually guaranteed to make me homicidal.

It makes me want to be able to reach into the screen and teleport to them and give them a good slapping!

What about you?

Or is it just me?

I say this having looked at a few Metarl videos on YouTube, today's batch was all full of purile gits with purile mesages and even worse fucking music.

Perhaps senility is making me Mr Angry.

So, how do you get to make a proper valid appeal against the ESA staff and management handling of an application, that the arrogant give-the-claiment-the-runaround incompetent weasels in the ESA cannot get out of an Ombudsman of some kind giving them a verdict of MALADMINISTRATION, or just plain fraudulent misinformation, whatever label applies to scum that "lose" not one but 2 or 3 application forms, one after the other and still refuse to give an interim payment citing as a reason for non payment their lack of ability to find documents that THEY are suppose to keep safe and look after and retrieve for an appeal.

Are there ANY politicians out there that can take a break from feathering their own nests in these hard times and look in a bit more detail at how awful the treatment of this nation's vulnerable citizens are?

Before there is a wave of suicides as things reach criticality in the way insult is added to injury and just plain callous treatment of the vulnerable and helpless sick who are unable to defend themselves against the sort of thug that just cuts a person off when they feel uncomfortable about having the system's or ESA clerk's short-comings accurately pointed out.

Or shall I just attempt suicide again and succeed this time so as to reduce the mountain of debt by one human's entitlement for the next 25 years?

If so, tell me where to get the Euthanasia pill that was rumoured a few years ago, I have had enough of seeing all the suffering going on to so many innocents.

Including me.

Before I start my Asperger rant on how my Dad died, my Mum is dying, and people I know who are not treated as well as I would hope and expect, let me say that many staff are dedicated, caring, lovely people that would be able to do more if the system allowed them to.

This is not an attack on them, nor even the (few?) upper management that are actually interested MORE in the well-being of the patients (or do they call them “UNITS”?) than their own career and hugely inflated pension rights when they retire (earlier than most of the rest of us can possibly retire at).

So, reading that back again, looks like I have already started in the style that got me a year's Written Warning under the Disciplinary code at work for my acerbic emails.

I will skip the relatively minor points that I may put down in writing later, to the major traumatic event that now has me unable to work, indeed, contributed to my attempted suicide on 31 March 2010 at 1400. Which as an Asperger I have to pedantically point out, did not succeed, due to underestimating how quickly the codeine phosphate in the 28 Co Codamol tablets, would trigger off the vomit reflex that most mammals have when detecting being poisoned (or in the case of sea and travel sickness, mistakenly assume that poisoning may be happening).

Any road up, I digress, a theme that will no doubt annoy anyone actually reading this, as I repeatedly create run-on sentences and multi-branching threads taking me away from the main argument I am trying to put forward.

Back to my dead dad.

Shall I skip the fact that he was told by his consultant that he had been cured of prostate cancer (not prostrate for fuxake, spell it right, although in the latter stages, the pain will make you have to lie down, so I suppose it could be argued that either spelling is OK!!!).

When my father finally ended up in Hospital he was put in a ward with many other patients. Because of the Swine Flu there were no isolated single occupancy rooms left.

So he died with general hubbub around him, loud voices, “a nutter” wandering around threatening patients and requiring security staff to remove them. Not dignified or restful.

Given that his doctor had belatedly tried to get the MacMillan nursing care he rightly deserved, but that it took so long due to the institutionalised incompetence that takes days to do what any normal person could do in an hour and IF THE TEMPORARY NURSE SUPPOSED TO LOOK AFTER HIS WELLBEING AT HOME THAT NIGHT HAD DONE HER JOB PROPERLY AND BEEN WITH HIM CARING FOR HIM, instead of being downstairs in a chair in another room reading a book, then he may have had a less stressful death.

That is because the FALL DOWN THE STAIRS AT THE AGE OF 89, injured him enough to require an ambulance. I wish it had killed him there-and-then. At least he would have died at home with his wife in a few minutes, not over 4 weeks of distress in the NHS BRI Hospital.

Too much of it in agony, before my brother and I pointed out how bad he was.

After he had told me to give him my hand and preceded to try to break my finger with all his strength to illustrate how much pain they were letting him endure.

And uttering the only 6 words I ever heard him speak in the last 3 weeks I saw him “It hurts, it hurts so much”.

(I had to take a break from writing this at this point as I just burst into tears at the memory. Everyone with me said how traumatised I looked after that happened).

After a few days just injecting him manually, they finally put him on a constant feed machine.

Or they thought they had, once the nurses had actually managed to locate one in this third-rate-banana-republic country that once used to rule an Empire. Which took over an hour of several people searching.

It took me and the fact I have been a chemist, to point out after half an hour that the FUCKING PLUNGER WAS NOT MOVING BECAUSE OF RUST AND GENERAL DIRT ON THE OLD MACHINE.

Of course there was the immediate defensive bollox about 0.1 ml (1 tenth of a millilitre) a minute was not much so you might not notice it.

So I just pointed out that 30 minutes at 0.1 ml a minute means 3 ml, and at 1 mark (graduation as we call it) per ml that should have moved 3 marks AND IT HAD STAYED AT THE SAME POINT I MADE A NOTE OF WHEN THEY STARTED. I made a note of it as I knew a piece of disgustingly filthy old junk like that is not likely to work smoothly. Good job I did. Pity the staff could not think to check such a simple thing.

Too busy trying to cope with too many patients per nurse,, and trying to keep up with multiple Management Directives concerned only with quotas, targets, “Balanced Scorecards/ Leadership” Commitment malarkey so that they get their bonuses or pay rises.

So, that is the main point I wanted to put on record, for as long as:

1. The Internet still exists, and this BLOG site manages to avoid going bankrupt and losing my utterance.

2. The Authorities do not threaten to sue the pants off me (not that I wear any normally), for defamation of character, libel or slander. Interesting about Defamation of Character, you can tell the world exactly what the truth is, with provable facts (falsifiable under Popperian Logic, but I digress due to my Scientific background). Yet the bar-stewards can still bankrupt you for saying so. Kunts.

One thing I have been doing to survive this recession, given I can no longer work, is this.

I look for Coke bottles with codes on them

100 points to a £5 BOOTS voucher.

So 25 small bottles or 17 large bottles a week.

That is the maximum you can enter, to stop people like me for a start, swamping the system and bankrupting Coca Cola (as if...).

While doing so I empty the bags of recycling that people cannot be arsed to put in the plastic bottle recycling bins, and put all but the Coke bottles in for them.

Thus tidying up the local car park in our supermarket "who shall be nameless" like Voldermort.

Or the Egyptian Pharaohs that annoyed their successors enough to consign to limbo by erasing their name.

So, back to the plot yet again.

I noticed some Ariel Gel bottles, by their nature (Gel) they are difficult to empty completely.

Hence a brainwave.

I now take these bottles home along with the Coke bottles, and extract the dregs with warm/hot water, using a minimum amount, a couple of times or so.

Taking a particularly clean one, I accumulate all the washing machine gel extracted and now I have 3 bottles, that will last me months.

Talk about recycling, that save me £4 a bottle roughly.

Come back later and I will have other money saving ideas, like free food.

No, not scavenged from the festering waste dumped alongside the bottles, but from the clean supermarket shelves, using vouchers I get for free.

Long time since I wrote anything, so this must be special I guess?

Yes it is, I have been exercising my brain since trying to commit suicide 2 months ago, after being off work ill for 6 months.

Amongst other ways of getting my brain up to speed and testing myself has been Amazon Mturk.

I have been pleasantly surprised at some of the "work" on there.

One I love is a daily recurring test of the "Cloud" infrastructure providers like Amazon E2, by CloudHarmony.

I get 25 cents each time, takes about 10 minutes, I go and make some Earl Grey Tea while waiting.

One other type of task I like is the one where I introduce websites to a wider audience, mind you, since I guess only 2 people read this, one being me, the other the owner of the following website coming to check what I have written, that is not going to be worth the 25 cents I get for this link!

A pity mturk does not pay for recruiting, otherwise I would suggest having a look, apparently a lot of us middle classes do the tasks for a bit of fun.

I certainly am having fun, although when I get the odd rejection, it is a good job I cannot get hold of the flaming Requestors when they do not give me a chance to correct any problems.

Taking a global view, why do people play virtual worlds.

In my case, when I paid for Runescape membership for me and my 2 sons, for 1 year, it was to help them in the game they loved playing(at that time). The intention being to make them armour and weapons they could not make themselves (being lower level than me), give them Runescape "gold", etc.

I was under threat of unemployment, possibly divorce, I am near to getting my free bus pass (so an old man), and immersion in this game took my mind of the scary and depressing nature of the way my life was turning out.

Objects that helped me to complete "Quests" so getting me to a higher level, were welcome, and that aspect of an item comes under the "functionality" part of your definition I guess.

I mention this in case someone you know is looking around for a PhD thesis subject, the reasons why people play these games in the first place may be as interesting as why they want to buy items for real money having made the decision to play the game.

I have now moved on (still married, still got a job with the Bank that tried to get rid of me) and I no longer play Runescape, nor pay for membership to give me the extra items that a Member gets.

In the end the very thing that was useful as an escape from reality (the mind numbing and pointless repetitious acts needed to raise the character up through the levels) was the thing that killed my interest after a year, once I no longer needed to hide from reality.

Since I did not socialise on Runescape (ever) it had no point.

Perhaps the social aspect is one reason to play, therefore one reason to buy virtual goods, due to the "preening" effect of wanting to look good or indeed, better than one's contemporaries.

My wife gave me a Sony Vaio.

Nice laptop.

Built in web cam and wireless connection.

Must have cost a bomb.

You would think therefore that they would supply recovery discs like the netbooks my sons got for their Christmas present.

Apparently not.

At first it annoyed the hell out of me, then reading around the subject, it seems there is a "hidden disc" partition that can be used to recover.

Only if the hidden disk is damaged are any recovery discs needed.

These can be burnt on 3 DVD R or 2 DVD R DL disks using the optical disc drive.

Unfortunately, they do not allow CD-R discs to be used.

Despite the help documents saying you can, if you go online to check!!!

Sony, get your act in order and at LEAST SUPPLY 2 DVD DL DISCS SUITABLE FOR IMMEDIATE BURNING!

Does not take a genius to work out that this would be in the customer's best interest, and reduce the resentment towards your "cheapskate" organisation.

(Update Jan 17 2009. They have stopped sending beers as they no longer have any left from the samples they had. The beer blog is not active anymore. Just finished my second post for The Beer Blog.

Every week I get a beer(so far, 2 weeks, perhaps one day they will run out of new beers to test and not need us any more).

The condition is,we have to write about what we think on the new beer that week.

Not a hardship I can assure you. I write this post with the warm feeling of their latest beer flowing through my veins, at almost 5% proof. Nice.

I tidied up some typos, must get this space bar fixed and ban the kids from using any new laptops that I buy in the future!!! Ruddy silly Internet games are a menace to space bars and the mouse!

As lynette and Markc noted, when you open this do it over the sink or in my case the kitchen worktop, easier to mop up when the beer fizzes out in a small fountain. And that was after leaving it to stand for 2 days from when the delivery man arrived!

The reason is the yeast sediment act as nucleation sites for the gas bubbles to grow rapidly around, so when the pressure is reduced when taking off the bottle top, it releases the gas as a froth rapidly. The froth being down to the plant matter used in brewing, I guess.

The beer is "conditioned in the bottle", that means it has live yeast (as it also says on the label) that continues to ferment and grow.

Hence the cloudy look to the beer, and the slight sediment on the inside of the bottle top when I removed it (from being stored on its side in transit for a while I guess). The bottle says to store UPRIGHT.

It says to pour carefully, that is because it is like wine, you do not want a gob full of yeast sediment while glugging down this amber nectar.

Apparently, having to pour this carefully to avoid the sediment, puts some people off this beer, all I can say is it was worth pouring carefully.

It is another deep amber beer, similar colour to the honey based witchywood beer I wrote about last week.

Similar strength, 4.9% as opposed to the 5.0% last week.

Nice flavour, IF you do not mind the yeast flavour in addition, that comes with the bitter hops basic tang. It has a "home made beer" taste because of this, this is not a criticism, nice to have "old fashioned" flavours instead of the chemical-vat stuff we used to (and still do) get fobbed off with by other brewers. Any one old enough to remember the ubiquitous and somewhat ridiculed Watneys Red Barrel? I rest my case M'lud.

In fact, it carries a "CAMRA" label stating it is "real beer" which I agree with.

Sweeter than many beers I have drunk, which I prefer myself.

Not a drink to quench your thirst when trying to rehydrate (is any beer really, but that is another matter). Unless you want to get paralytic, this should be savoured almost a sip at a time.

Almost a sacrilege to add lemonade to it, so this time I avoided making a shandy, although I expect it would be a nice sweet one, which again I like.

I like it, and when I am out and about and HBOS is paying expenses (while it still can!!!) I will order this if it is available.

Nice gold ink decorated labels front and back, gives it a feeling of an expensive beer (which I guess at nearly 5% proof,it will be, but worth every penny).

Some feedback for the marketers and designers to think about.

Ringwood Brewery is something to be proud of, yet the back label uses a black label with gold and white letters except for these 2 words which are in a dark
green (possibly a hint of dark blue in it) the result being that it looks like the label has not been printed properly, and the area was missed by the printers.

Only in the right light could I read the words.

Possibly the designer or printer is colour blind, being male would increase that chance 10 fold approximately. If so, perhaps dark green looks like a
contrasting colour (light grey perhaps), get some of us to product test the labels if you want for future products. I pass the Ischira colour test 100% so I am available. You might want to include colour blind members as well to see what trouble they have with labels.

Not a major thing to worry about, except the Disability Act does get invoked sometimes to fine businesses for blatant discrimination, colour blindness being one condition that is covered.

Have you wondered about all those sites that advertise "free laptops" and "free ipods"?

The alternative is to get your own website, join affiliate sites like TradeDoubler, CJ, OffersQuest, etc (see my afiliate links) and pocket all the money from signing up to the offers yourself, (and your family as well if they want), using the affiliate links on your own site.

That way you should get enough money to buy the stuff, more quickly, as you do not have to wait for your recruits to complete offers and qualify for payment themselves.

Just refering people does not get you anywhere, they must also signup to stuff, and some schemes also require they also recruit enough people before they qualify.

Be aware that some sites set up like that are considered scams as you can never qualify as your recruits can never qualify, the chain is endless.

Just to explain, I wanted to see if the act of publishing a blog article momentarily resulted in an increased probability that someone would see it and respond to an "offer you cannot refuse",at that time.

That offer is now cancelled.

I got no response.

That scientifically does not prove that you do NOT get an increase in probability of someone seeing your blog and visiting, just that even if they did visit,it was not a good enough or interesting enough offer for them to bother taking up.

(Update Jan 17 2009. They decided in November to pull the plug on it all and stop supplying ads or paying for any more ads being carried. A pity as the team were nice people. Credit crunch I suppose).

At the moment Matched.co.uk seem to be having issues with their spider saying it cannot see ads on sites which actually are plain to see by any human that visits.

This is causing many newer publishers worry, since you only have to have your ads not found for a few days out of the month, and you do not get paid for that webpage at all.

Not even if you carry the ads with no problems for the rest of the month.

At the moment I am not panicking since in the past Admin have reset the "missing ads" counter to zero when it has had this problem before.

I only hope this will be the case again.

If not, I will be deleting my account, no point carrying someone's ads if you are not going to get paid.

If I do, I will delete the post suggesting you join them.

At the momentI still trust them, even though I am getting annoyed that there is nobody you can contact for support over the weekend, seemingly, so dozens if not hundreds of website owners are left worrying about being penalised through no fault of their own.

Smorty also have a referral program now, so double-whammy as the (UK) saying goes.

I have yet to be approved, and might not be as I have had a lot of work lately for HBOS to do, and so have neglected to write much, even though I have come across stuff I wanted to comment on, just no time until today.

I cannot advertise it here, you will have to go to www.sez-me.net as they have even more stringent rules than BloggerWave or PPP (for which 2 see further down this blog).

One of them being the need for a root domain such as my sez-me site, I cannot even submit http://www.runescape-cheats.co.uk/blog.html as they only allow sub domains like www.blog.runescape-cheats.co.uk, which I have not set up, possibly cannot do so either.

I just posted a comment on a blog that mentioned the advisability of keeping affiliate links relevant to the theme of the blog,if there was one.

I said:

The bit about being relevant to your sites is also true, but remember we all have complex needs, so for example, if all computer interested visitors also all tend to like eating Mars Bars (to give them energy to keep programming all night for example), then you might get a surprising number of sales from having a sweet-shop affiliate link perhaps.

The point I am making is, if an item is interesting to you but off-topic, it might be true for others like you, they may be happy to be told that the opportunity/item exists in passing while they are pursuing their main interest.

For example, I once linked to a site about big bras for big busted women, on the equivalent to the now www.websitesediting.net, a site originally about proofreading and editing websites (a free service I once supplied, still do for the odd site I really like).

I found to my surprise that the visitors to that site must have tended to be female, and interested in big bras, as most of my sales came from that site!

Who would have thought that at first glance?

On further reflection it is plausible as indexing and proofreading working from home tends to be done by women more due to home commitments forcing them to look for work they can do while at home, and since women are more linguistic than men on average (yak the hind leg off a donkey and run rings round us men when nagging, etc.....) it is natural for them to search for proofreading and editing type jobs, hence coming across my old site.

So do not get too paranoid about having apparently unrelated posts now and again,you might miss out on a golden opportunity.

$40 (or £20 to us Brits) in this month, "better than a kick up the bum".

Trouble is, all the opportunities that a lowly BLOG like mine can take are now gone, and when the few open opportunities arise,they are quickly snapped up.

I wish that UK style opportunities were restricted to UK Bloggers,perhaps that would increase the chance of getting something.

If you do not have a very popular Blog, then you will only really get any money from recruiting as an affiliate.

What has sunk in is, for a PPP opportunity, you get doshed up for the approved posting, if lucky, if not lucky then it is rejected, and if you cannot alter it to the advertiser's satisfaction within the 3 days I had for PPP, you get nothing for all your work.

Contrast this with the Matched.co.uk and BetterThanBanners/Money4Banners sites that pay you for carrying their ad code on your websites (not necessarily Blogs either, in fact, not normally so).

There the initial work may be in setting up a website,if you have not already got one, if you have already got web pages up on the Internet, then the next step is to apply to have their ads on your site.

I your site is accepted, then in the case of Money4Banners/BetterThanBanners your site's acceptance means you will be supplied with code to carry on your site.

In the case of Matched.co.uk, you may be accepted, but the next step for them is to MATCH (hence the name of the domain/site) suitable ads to the theme of your site. This may take a while depending on the type of merchants ads they have currently active,and the theme of your site.

For Matched, you get paid £3 for every page up to a maximum of 5 pages that each carry their own ad code. Maximum sites accepted=5, so theoretically, that is £75.

I have seen an opportunity on PPP for $135 (roughly £75 to us Brits), but there was no way most people will be able to use it as it required a Google Rank 6!. It is debatable if a site with rank 6 will ever stoop so low as to carry a paid blog ad,i would guess as a first approximation.

No matter, the point is, with PPP and BloggerWave(BW) after 30 days you get your moolah.

After 30 days (or 31 or 28 for Feb,or indeed,if being pedantic, 29 every leap year) you would also get your dosh from Matched.

The important difference is this.

After another 30 days PPP and BW give you 0 Zilch, Nada, nothing, minus one plus e raised to the power of the square root of minus one times Pi (should equate to zero, but it is 30 years since I got my second honours degree in Science including Math(s) so all you young whippersnappers out there can correct me if you want).

Whereas, party of the second part (just love using that archaic legal phrase) Matched and BTB/M4B will have sent you ANOTHER payment.

Yes that is right, Mathched would theoretically give you up to £75 a MONTH, every month, until either they, you or their advertiser goes bust and vanishes from the Internet.

Which has not happened so far, but bear that in mind when planning what to do next.

With BTB/M4B the situation is more complicated, as recently they seem to have done something to revert back from M4B to BTB site, so I cannot recruit using M4B referral links, and I can no longer log in to that site yet although I can log into the BTB site with the username/password I used to have on M4B, NOBODY ELSE CAN SIGNUP TO THIS OLD SITE!

I have sent Carol an email asking what to do now. In the meantime I do not get paid for recruiting for them, so do not have their link here. Nothing to stop you visiting it yourself if you feel like investigating it.

I must point out that 2 days ago I got paid again for my 5 websites with them, so I am not saying they are a scam,or anything like that, just it looks as if they are still needing to sort out problems, possibly related to the one they alerted to us last month that delayed payment by 1 week in my case.

When they finally get it sorted out, they have the advantage that, although only paying £5 ($5) for each accepted website (so long as it has their code on at least 3 web pages) as opposed to Matched that pays £3 per page on a site,up to 5 pages per site allowed= £15 per website, with Matched you can only have 5 sites maximum accepted.

BTB/M4B on the other hand theoretically allow an INFINITE number of websites!

They just have to be a good enough quality, which is why every time I submit a site, they refuse it for various reasons, mostly lack of quality, once saying a site had objectionable content on it (www.bigbustbras.co.uk).

If it was because of the large busted models showing their lingerie, that is the whole bloody point of the site, women are allowed to shop around for their boulder holsters surely, and how can they do that easily on the Internet if you are not allowed to show the goods??? I asked what it was that they saw that was objectionable, but they could not be bothered to tell me, so I could not correct the problem. They are not obliged to go into specifics, it says so in their Terms.

Another site that I uncharacteristically put in a lot of hours working on, the beggars said the content was not unique! (www.runescape-cheats.co.uk!

I am sure my style of writing and subject matter was more unique that some of my sites they accepted.

No matter,that is their right.I cannot complain,they accepted 5 of my sites, and more importantly, when I had trouble that lost 3 of my sites hosted by someone else, they supported me in replacing those with other sites, then when finally I managed to rescue 2 of the sites back, over a year later when the domains came to be freed, I was able to reinstate them without much fuss, and increase my earnings.

They also allowed me to substitute another similar domain for one that was obtained by someone else in somewhat questionable circumstances. Funnily enough, the dick-head that now "owns" and hosts the website, still has 2 pages up on their server with my ads and my adsense code on it!!! Talk about free hosting!(www.websitesediting.com/usefullinks.htm) Now replaced by www.websitesediting.NET

Any road up! BetterThanBanners/Money4Banners have been paying me for 2 years now, so I trust them, and hope they sort things out soon, they would be missed if they packed up.

What pearls of wisdom today?

Pearls, that makes me remember a long forgotten website I have, used to be rank 3, now sadly despite all the information painstakingly hand crafted by yours-truly, Google in its infinite ranking wisdom, has given it a zero rank.

Possibly because I left it so long without updating and reloading it on the server (google likes often-changing webpages, on the assumption that the info will be more uptodate and relevant to the searchers using Google).

Possibly the number of dead links I let build up (safelists are always vanishing and so take a lot of housekeeping to remove the links manually).

Possibly just because I make crapsites (Registered trademark-I wish!).

Well, that is an example of a site that does not need the services of Safe-lists.

On the other hand, I do, so may you.

When you are at the bottom of the Internet "food chain", you need all the sources of traffic you can get.

Have a butchers-hook at Safe Lists for some of the uses and problems that can arise.

Bear in mind you can do it all free while you decide if you want to pay for more perks for upgraded membership.

On the whole I would say not, but then I have never had the courage to risk large amounts of subscription money on upgraded memberships when I do not have high value items to sell.

Just a quick word or two to say how impressed I am with the support people on PayPerPost.

I admit I am old(er) than many bloggers (57 as at the time of writing) so perhaps that is why it took me 4 attempts to get my previous post (below) accepted as OK for payment.

In all the time they were dealing with me I was grateful for their patient explanation of why I had "cocked up" each time.

Just got through putting up my first BloggerWave paid-per-post yesterday and blow me if I am now (at last) accepted into PayPerPost.com

Unfortunately you are not allowed to have a paid posting one after the other, what they did not make that clear when collecting the paid ad code is, do they mean any old paid posting, or only ones from them.

No matter, it is easy enough to write about "stuff" in between, and in fact it is quite fun.

For example,to answer the question above, and save any readers of this Magnum Opus

I advise you to do the same!!!!

I suppose I should say for fairness (more than the fairness Stormpay have shown others to date) that I personally (tautology) had all money I was owed paid to me by cheque (check) whenever I asked for it in the past, but then I had the sense not to pay any of the 12daily style scams for anything using any payment processor or credit card, and I never gave Stormpay any bank details or credit card details.

When they introduced $1 a month deduction for whatever specious reason they came up with at the time, in a sneaky way, I cancelled my account, having only about $1 left, earned from reading their stupid time wasting in-house "paid to read adverts". I only got about $1 a month from the few ads they let me see, and then they intended taking the $1 if I still had it in the account and had not spent it. The first time they did that I resigned. Essentially you were reading their ads for free, while they charged the advertisers (fellow Stormpay customers) a fee for each ad clicked which was supposed to go to us.

Of course banks and others have a right to charge a fee for services, whichever services they want to, it is a "free country" but, party of the second part, it is also our rights to go elsewhere if we do not like it, and I suggest that others remember that and do likewise.

I suggest you do not start an account with them if you do not already have an account. If you do start an account, do not supply bank or credit card details. If you do, on your head be it, you have been warned!

[Edited 18/4/8 to say I removed the videos after 2 weeks as they slowed down the site loading for the sites I had them on if more than 1 was used, and I never got any sales through them. Not that impressed. Better sites than mine may get more results from targeted individuals (such as sites dealing with gadgets for example).]

Firebox have created videos of some of the products they sell, with the ability to add your Affiliate Future or Affiliate Window ID so any sales get credited to you.

They say the videos increase sales a lot, and having seen the indoor helicopter and miniature planes flying around in their office, I can see why, I am tempted to buy some for my kids (well me as well really).

See their video ads on www.my site maps.co.uk for examples (18/4/8 now removed).

They have a video of their "stealth umbrella" which is a bit long, but amusing. You can see the guy struggling to keep a grip at over 130 Kilometers an hour in the wind machine, yet he comes out of it laughing, clearly enjoying the experience. The umbrella actually survived intact, I was surprised and impressed.

One point of interest to us affiliates on a hosting budget, Firebox host the video from their own servers, so you do not need to pay extra for bandwidth used in streaming or downloading.

Just been on one of the better affiliate sites, noticed this merchant (as they are called on affiliate sites), a worthy cause. Children In Crisis

The spiel says

"There are 77 million children worldwide who are not able to go to school. If I was not struggling myself with a wife, 5 kids and a mortgage like a millstone round my neck, drowning me in a sea of debt, I would think about sponsoring a child myself.

My Runescape member account is due to expire in a few days, and I think I will let it lapse without renewing.

When I was under threat of redundancy in 2007 it helped keep me calm by taking my mind of what might happen (losing job, house, marriage...)

Now I have a new job for a different part of the HBOS empire, I have so much new finance orientated learning to do, I have not got the time to play anymore.

Even more so, since my sons no longer spend much time on it, but rather play on Adventure Quest, Dragon Fable and Mech Quest.

Hence there is no point doing what I was doing, raising my "level" to allow me to make high status weapons and armour to give them a helping hand in playing the game.

I am not saying that there is anything wrong with Runescape, despite the recent change that stops me from giving my own sons a set or Mithril armour, due to the unbalanced trade limit of 3000 GP (gold pieces) which was introduced in January to stop the "off world traders".

Off world traders are people who get paid real US Dollars to supply some (rare) article or item in the game, or skill upgrade, to save the long time it takes to train up if you play the game properly without cheating.

I have some affection for it still, but every time I log in now, I just get the feeling that I should be doing something more useful with what limited time I have left (at 57 I am 2/3rds of the way to final oblivion, otherwise known as DEATH).

In case some TEACHERS or PHILOSOPHERS or PSYCHOLOGY or EDUCATIONAL students are reading this, and need a subject to research for a PhD or MSc, consider these observations below.

1. The game could be used to teach cooperative play, some tasks can only be done (successfully) by coordinating with other players online.

2. If the RuneScape owners could be persuaded, the literature section of the game (used for clues to tasks throughout parts of the game) could be used to teach no only Mythology, but science, maths, Geography, Geology, Astronomy, Biology, etc, without the younger player realising they were absorbing knowledge while playing.

3. The Economic Laws of Supply and Demand as well as Negotiating skills, or Business studies, could be demonstrated by the merchanting side of this game. Not just the "Grand Exchange" which is a stock-exchange/market trader place, but the local shops where you can also buy or sell items, as well as the "trade" that you can do between players directly. The latter is a good introduction to scams as well as how to negotiate, and supply and demand. That is because some players will try to cheat you, see the game for how.

4. Psychology students could perhaps submit a "mini game" which would highlight some aspect of human behaviour (cooperative play, puzzle solving, combativeness, altruism, etc) and get some useful results if the owners accepted it (and I am not speaking for them, they do not say they will accept outside coding, but do welcome ideas that they can consider using). with about 1/4 of a million members that is some substantial sampling of the human race to base statistics on.

I do not get paid if you join Runescape, so what I have written above is not driven by any motive other than communicating with other humans to pass on my experiences and knowledge.

The only way I would earn anything from a visitor's interest is if they visited my site www.runescape-cheats.co.uk and responded to any adverts that interested them, but I am not asking for that to happen, you have to be fair to the advertisers who pay a lot for clicks on their ads sometimes, without getting any results.

Lastly, any words run together are due to my kids using this laptop to play games, some sites use the spacebar a lot and it gets hammered to the pointof failure. Runescape is not one of these, most, if not all, of the action can be done with the mouse entirely.

It was also a sarcastic comment on how the H.E.DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS (or for those not so religiously squeemish as the Yanks, HELL) could a set of plonkers on (n+1)thousand pounds a month (n, n+1,...n----> infinity, as the mathematicians put large amounts of indeterminate size) still be left alive let alone in their effing jobs with million pound retirement pensions(and that bit about pensions for once is not actually an exageration-for-effect or Hyperbole but quoted by the Governement in the press under the freedom of information act), while the rest of us (in the UK) get refused vital medicine to save lives because "there is not enough money to pay for it all".

Well there farking well would have been if you "mons-venerii" had not wasted several billions on the computer systems you were told by experts, could never be made to work at all.

Not just once but SEVERAL TIMES this NHS debacle has been played out in all the 50+ years I have been on this miserable planet, sub-set Britain, sub-sub-set England....

People have got paid, once PayPal allowed the money to be freed.

America hit by massive tornados yesterday, 20+ killed. So much for Bush not signing up enthusiastically to the Kyoto agreement to stop this rogue weather due to global warming! If CO2 emmission is to blame, the gas guzzling Yanks are getting their just rewards some may say, especially those prone to outbursts of "kill the infidel"......

That is not the reason for this missive today, just before I go to twork for the glorious HBOS empire.

It is the fact that a year old (11 months) boy was found alive after being thrown 300 meters in the air. His mother was found nearby dead.

Miracle everyone says, yes it was certainly lucky. For once I have not heard the Yanks say "Praise the Lord for this miracle".

Perhaps they are at last realising that if it was God truly performing a miracle, you could take Him to task for killing the mother, and making this innocent kid an orphan.

Where is the miracle in that?

Just joined Pay Per Post, need to write another 10 posts, since the 13 this BLOG has had since 2004, do not count as they are more than a month old.

I can understand their point, but give us oldies (and I mean both BLOG and the writer) a chance!

RUNESCAPE
I have to admit spending too many hours on this multiplayer online role playing game, but it allows me to interact with my sons in a way that nothing else we have done together can quite match.

The site is on http://www.runescape.com, and you can have a free account for as long as you want, until you upgrade.

In fact, I bought a year's membership for both sons as part of their birthday presents, and I upgraded as well, to allow the hidden and restricted parts of the game to be experienced.

Given that I should get a life, and taking that as read, let me mention some of the things that strike me while I have been playing, and supporting my sons in their adventures.

Firstly, you can kill Goblins (what have the poor things done to us I wonder?) giant rats, spiders, everything that moves essentially, except certain sheep and cattle. I say certain, as you can kill RAMS and also non-milking COWS. All of these characters are termed NPC or Non Player Characters

In the initial town that you start at as a beginner, LUMBRIDGE, you are not allowed to kill fellow human online players.

If you venture north too far, and cross the ditch by jumping over it (just added last week, by request of players to avoid getting into trouble so easily), then you can kill and be killed by other players.

As a free player you have many restrictions, but for a while this will not bother you, as there is so much you can still do as a free player.

However, if you upgrade to be a MEMBER you get to see things that members have, that cannot be seen on a free player server by non-members.

Like the pet cat that follows some members around, when trained up to be HELL CATS they can help you fight enemies.

One of the reasons I upgraded was for the extra space in the BANK that allows you to store more of the items that you accumulate while doing various quests (of which, as a member, there are many more than can be attempted by free players).

Another advantage of upgrading is that you can build a house, and equip it with various rooms, including a games room, workshop, combat room and dungeon, then invite other players to visit for a "party".

Not being that sociable, I restrict my games room and combat room (and workshop) to my sons. In the workshop you can build things to increase your CONSTRUCTION LEVEL without having to spend vast amounts on buying a room to put them in.

Yougov are recruiting, unusual event, not sure how long they intend to credit recruiters with the equivalent earnings that the recruits earn for the first 3 months they take surveys or answer polls.

Started making Excel spreadsheet macros, can not get to grips with the more techie Object Orientated Programming jargon, but at least I can make my spreadsheet email itself and attachements, and write a website source code in less than a second, for uploading ready to go, amongst other things.

Now I construct a webpage with URL logins to many of the safelists I belong to, to speed up visiting them all (username and password embedded in the "POST".

Good laugh this scripting lark, wish I was 40 years younger though, I remember the good old days of Fortran and Basic and Spectrum 48K and BBC Model B micros....

Microsoft could not allow me to access my old email account due to my not being able to remember, or predict, what the settings for the account were.

They never said if they meant from the start, or now in its Polish form.

As I pointed out, I could hardly be able to guess what the account had been changed to.

Charitably, I am assuming that after a year of non-use, Hotmail recycles names to be available again, and so this is how I lost it.

Well, finally able to update this blogg, many thanks to Support at blogspot.com for their help. Speedy help at that, I am very impressed and pleased.

Now it remains to see if Microsoft, in the guise of Hotmail, can sort out the lost bloggblogg@hotmail.com (see first post) and ask the Polish gentleman that changed the security question and answer, how he got it.

The moral of this short tale is.

1. Do not tell foreign websites of any mistakes that may have on their websites, even if you are just trying to help them, in case they take umbrage and retaliate in some way.

AUTOSURF SITES.

I have joined 2, StudioTraffic.com and 4Daily.com, the latter through the GMR Downline builder.

I intend to see how far I can go before they go bust, and vanish with my earnings, just out of morbid curiosity.

My advice is, do not waste your valuable time, the whole idea is basically a Ponzi one, where those coming after you pay for your profit. Eventually the income will dry up, and the schemes will not be able to pay members.

If you remain a free member, using their free introductory level ($10 for ST, $4 for 4Daily) then it will take a year to reach payout on ST, and about 2 months for 4Daily, by which time the memebrship will have lapsed before being able to be paid, as far as I can decipher the terms and conditions. The only way to rescue the earnings is to pump in your own $10 (ST) or $4 (4Daily). Hence you will have to gamble that they do not fold, just as you cough up with the dosh.

I often wonder if there is someone out there churning out the doubler/autosurf scripts, with an ADMIN script that tells these herberts, when the best time to fold up would be, to maximise their takings.

Perhaps I am too cynical.

(As a postscript, as at 12 October 2005 4Daily has wiped out all the earnings of accounts it owed, and started afresh so all the time some of us spent surfing was wasted. I can understand they had to, as otherwise the only other alternative was to fold and vanish. Nevertheless, I will never trust them enough to invest any of my money in them, fortunately I never did, so I only have some of my time wasted.)

How many of you got scammed by the "Doubler" craze?

All these schemes are basically "Ponzi" schemes, (rob Peter to pay Paul).

A variation that is almost worthwhile is the "Advert Bubble game" or "Bubble Advert game".

Games they are, since eventually you will be throwing away your money, but in the case of the bubbles, they are usually only a few cents at a time, and you usually have had some exposure for your advert.

If you try them, you are gambling that you might get back more than you paid, AND also get some response to the adverts themselves.

Hence, what is the difference between giving some git $10 for 1 million banner impressions for your latest scheme (to all Canadians especially, this is not synonymous with the word SCAM) and getting about 0.01% clickthrough and begger-all sales, and the bubble schemes? Not much really.

That is more than can be said for the pure Ponzi schemes, about 80% of entrants lose money, with nothing worthwhile in return, not even free advertising.

Here is the latest copy of what I send to Safelists.

I modify what I said before about safelists mostly being a waste of time, yes some are, but the smaller lists and newly formed lists are a lot more responsive.

It is all a "game of numbers", the more lists you get your message to, the more probability that one in a million (actually, not quite that bad usually) will open it and read.

I had a period when I did not send to Safelists, before and after going on Holiday at the beginning of this June 2004.

One day I even got ZERO CENTS, that has not happened for months ever since I started using Google Adsense on my sites.

Ironically enough, the period of my holiday when I was away from my beloved computer, I actually earned more per day due to having arranged for a well established Webmaster to use my site to test some traffic generating ideas.

Notwithstanding all of that, I have proved to myself that no safelists submitting means no visitors and no earnings.

Hence I suggest they are considered as a minor but useful adjunct to other publicity means.

If you have a popular product that pays well in commissions or sales, consider going for the Auto Safelist Submitters.

For your 100Mb (now as at 2005 it is 1GB!!!) email account, SIGN UP TO YAHOO.CO.UK for a free account.

They just recently increased the size in the last few days. More than enough for most safelist uses if you use the FILTERS to autodelete mail you do not want.

I set up filters to put VALID(ate) CONFIRM, ACTIV(ate) and FREE BLASTERS and FREE SUBMITTERS into seperate folders, and set a rule to delete ALL the rest that have not got the word "free" in. So far I have not blown up the accounts I have, despite being on holiday for a week!

Leave stuff in the Bulk Email folder (do not define stuff as NOT spam unless really important), it does not count towards the email account size limit. You can set it to kept for a month, allowing you time to quickly look once a week and see if any interesting emails are present, before bulk emptying the Bulk email folder.

Not sure if Yahoo.com is as large, but I would guess so, difficult to join up and find out due to being in the UK.

Lycos also have a similar sized free account facility as well, apparently.

If the hints above are useful, please reward me by looking at the rest of this email, and pay attention to the Google Adsense ads in particular.

By the way, Google Adsense now has an added SEARCH function that puts ads on the results it returns if a visitor searches on your site, increasing the chances of getting a paying click from the Google Adsense scheme.

I will use this area to warn readers of stuff that is not right on the Internet.

Today it is PTR sites.

Some are nice, most are a shambles, with webmasters using any trick they can get away with (and some that they cannot) to delete members accounts when they get a request to pay out cash to the members once they qualify.

Betty Bucks are the latest to be taken over by another webmaster yet again, causing problems with the contract to run advertising paid for already.

I suggest avoiding considering Paid To Read sites as a genuinely useful advertising medium, especially in the long and even medium term (not longer than a month say) as they all go belly-up or vanish with your money, or refuse to pay you as a member, and even blacklist you as a cheat in order to justify their actions.

I have not been deleted from a site for cheating ever, my rant here is due to the despicable behaviour of the previous 2 Betty Bucks program owners, misleading the current one.

Fortunately the current webmistress Andrea is helpful and having been shown the PayPal receipt, is willing to honour the contract.

I wonder how many times more I will have to go through this traumatic process?

I have waived any contractual rights to the positioning of the Top Box on BB so as to make it easier for the designer. In exchange I am being given an upgrade to Platinum member status to compensate for the reduced effectiveness that the change from Top position may entail. Quite fair really.

Not that I will have many avid readers yet, but sorry for not writing sooner.

Finally decided to cut down on the PTR scene.

What is a PTR?

Paid To Read.

Paid to read emails, and by implication, visit sites from links in them, and get paid a pittance for it.

I earn more from Google Adsense in a blast to safelists done manually in 1 day, than I do from the emails in PTR sites all week.

The only way you can make any money from them is to generate a HUGE downline of people that you referred to the site, and earn a percentage from their clicking.

I still want to associate with Mayapaid4Mail and MasterAdvertising NileCash and BettyBucks, Ker-Ching Cash and Sterling Rewards, but that is about it.

My advice is to concentrate on generating money from owning a useful site yourself, not on clicking links in emails for fractions of a cent.

The first to get the chop will be AYS (All You Submitters).

The site is turning nasty in its attitude to members, deleting accounts at any excuse.

They are taking MONTHS to pay members what they have earned.

If you do not like what they are doing, resign, is their motto now.

If you delete cookies using the handy button provided in IE6, Tools Internet Options, they say they will delete your account immediately.

I am not going to be dictated to like that, if I want to clean my cookies out to remove spyware and dataloggers, then why should I be put to such trouble in trying to preserve their precious cookies?

Stuff em.

(As at 22/6/2004 I no longer have an account, whether due to the cookie thing, or my comment on their forum about the attitude they have, and not being dictated to about keeping cookies or not, or just from being inactive too long since they are a waste of space and I was on holiday this month, and have not bothered with them lately, I cannot be sure and who cares anyway.

I am at present struggling with safelists (they seem a waste of time mostly) and search engines and their various optimisation needs.

What am I trying to promote?

Mostly Google Adsense as a lifesaver for small website owners.

Funny thing is, I promote this more than most other websites I own the domain name for (some argue that you do not own a domain but lease it, but ask Homeowners that have a 25 year lease if the are OWNERS or renters and see what answer you get).

The funny thing being, that there is NO AFFILIATE SCHEME for this.

How do I get anything out of it.

Well besides the satisfaction of helping others, just once in a while someone reading my article(s) sees something on GA (Google Adsense) and decides it is worth a look.

Usually the Paid Surveys stuff, or sometimes other stuff like Hosting if they are thinking of doing something similar to what I am trying.

(If the spelling gets really bad, it is because my 6 year old son is playing with cars on the table behind me and going "Dad Dad Dad" every 10 seconds, like they do.)

Talking of which, he is one of the reasons I am getting onto this Internet lark.

I would like to think I can carry on generating an income to help him when he is older, and I have been compulsorily retired at 62 from the "caring sharing" HBOS empire.

Or sooner than 62 if they take objection to what I may write about them.

I am from the UK, no such thing as "freedom of speech" here, don't you know, what?
